What is a Galileo thermometer?   How does the Galileo thermometer work?  How much do they cost?

A Galileo thermometer really is a working thermometer as well as an attractive piece of glassware for your home, office or conservatory.  Galileo thermometers use a principal developed by Galileo GALILEI, the famous Italian scientist and astronomer, during the early years of the 17th century.  Our Galileo thermometers are all hand made to the highest quality and individually adjusted.  All carry a minimum of a one year guarantee.

You can easily read the temperature as the glass balls rise or fall gracefully at 1 or 2°C intervals (depending on model).
Galileo thermometers make great gifts for birthdays and Christmas and are available from 28 to 120cm.

The combination of shape, colour and movement in a Galileo thermometer is irresistible, but why pay inflated prices in your High Street or Garden Centre?  Give one to a friend or loved one, or just treat yourself to this fascinating thermometer with a 400+ year history at our on-line prices.

 * EU regulations dictate what materials may not be used in the colour dyes for products manufactured or sold within the EU.  This affects the dyes that may be used in the Galileo balls.  These regulations specify that heavy metals, such as cadmium, may not be used.  Cadmium and other heavy metals are very toxic and represent a health risk.  The remaining options, particularly for red and cognac colours, reduce the ability of the dyes to resist fading, particularly when exposed to UV (ultra-violet) light associated with sunlight.  Direct sunlight delivers higher levels of UV than indirect sunlight or on a cloudy day.  As all types of thermometer should be used out of direct sunlight to avoid displaying high reading, it is now important also to limit colour fading of the liquids.  The above regulations will affect all Galileo thermometers sold within the EU, not just those from ThermometerShop.  AMS Products Ltd is not able to include colour fading within it's one year guarantee, as the degree of exposure to UV light is within the customer's control.
